Kiptopeke State Park with a great beach, fishing pier, boat ramps and nature trails is only a few hundred yards away and near the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge which also has trails and bird watching. The Town of Cape Charles is only about 10 minutes away. A walk down Mason Avenue (6 blocks long) presents numerous shops and eateries as well as bakeries, ice cream shop, candy store and beauty shops. Moonrise Jewelry is a nationally recognized jewelry boutique with jewelry made on site. Our town faces west across the Chesapeake Bay and we are noted for our magnificent sunsets that rival those in Key West. The town now boasts the Cape Charles Brewing Co. and eatery, Cape Charles Distillery offering tastings and Busky Cidery. There are 10 eateries with two being on the waters edge. Only 1.5 hours north is Chincoteague and the Assateague National Seashore where wild ponies (Misty of Chincoteague) roam. Assateague has an Atlantic Ocean beach. If you want to spend a day or two with day trips, the Virginia Beach ocean front is a little over 1 hour away with loads of shops and nightlife. Williamsburg and Busch Gardens are 80 miles and the Virginia Aquarium is about 70 minutes away.
